ruffin' it

This last week was my annual family trip to the Uintas. This campout is at the top of my list of favorite summer activities. My mom grew up in the Uintas so all of her siblings and their kids come back to visit each year. One of the best parts of this campout (excluding the awesome food) is when my uncle Gary takes us on a hike. He along with my grandpa worked for the forest service back in the day so he knows everything there is about the Uintas. As we hike he stops us and identifies all of the trees and flowers and points out the paths and bridges that he actually built himself! It really makes you appreciate the great outdoors. We took Mya on the trek with us this year and she loved it. We went about 6 miles and she never stopped the whole way. We stopped on our hike to take this cute family pic. Who does she look more like me or Nate? We call her our granola dog because she loves the outdoors so much. She runs through the rivers and streams and then rolls in the dirt and is a complete disaster afterward.

At night when it was freezing she buries herself under the blankets in between us. We also decided to go float tube fishing with her. At first she was a little freaked out sitting by us on a little tube in the middle of a lake, but after a while she just fell asleep while we fished the day away. I caught a rainbow trout and I was so proud of myself! Besides a little rain it was a great trip.

Sounds like you guys had fun! How did Nate do with the hike and his knee? Did you eat the fish? Yummy!

That's a cute family picture! I hope it was a little cooler there! I'm impressed Mya did so well! She seems like a good puppy! Jack was freeked out by water the first time, then he seemed to like it..then he almost drowned...so we'll see how he likes it next time! :-)
