So I may have gone a little out of control with the kiddos birthday.
I got so excited about it and found some really cute ideas, I just couldn't help myself.
Nate kept telling me that he would never remember it, oh well!Photobucket
I went with the circus theme, I even had Nate learn to make balloon animals (which he forgot to do).
Lucas had the time of his life. First of all he loves attention so he was eating that up, and then he got cake, what else could a kid ask for!Photobucket
I made him his own personal cake to destroy.
He was so hilarious eating the cake. At first he wasn't too sure about the sticky blue frosting, but once I showed him what was underneath, he went to town!
Photobucket
He kept signing more, like he hadn't eaten enough cake already.
We had to stop him from eating himself sick.
I think there was one point where he actually picked up the entire cake!
Photobucket
Mya even got in on the action. She wanted that cake soooo bad!

Photobucket
This picture makes me laugh so hard. All of a sudden he just reached his hand in the air with! It is even funnier on video.
Photobucket
I decided to try my luck at making a fondant cake, it turned out okay,
definitely not perfect but it worked.
Photobucket
He didn't really get the opening presents stuff, but once we pulled out the bike he got so excited.
Photobucket
I can't decide if he likes the bike or the bell better?!
And of course since we had a circus we had to have a photobooth!
It's kind of cheesy, but I made everyone who came get their picture taken in the photobooth.
Now i have record of who was there!
Photobucket
I can't believe my baby is 1! It has gone by so fast. He is such a funny little man. He is getting so smart it scares me. He loves to pretend to talk on the phone. His favorite phone is the tv remote! He is the busiest boy ever and walks around the house for hours just exploring. He can say mom, dad, uh-oh, and good. He makes a little barking noise when Mya is barking.
Just recently he started signing more, thank you, and all done. It is the cutest thing in the world to see him sign! He loves to be outside and loves anything to do with water. He will sit at the window and just look outside for quite a while!
He has no fear, which could be good or bad. He will walk up to a total stranger and become their new best friend! He loves to play with older kids, he will follow them around and act like he is big too.
He laughs at himself all the time like he is the funniest person in the world!
He has also developed a fake cry that is pretty dang good! He will act like he hurt himself and give you this hurt look that just makes me laugh! And the new thing that he loves to do is whine! Not so cool
He is a perfect angel for my mom or anyone else who is watching him, but as soon as mommy comes home the whine comes out. Not sure what to do about that one!
We love this little guy so much. He bring so much happiness and laughter into our home.
Happy Birthday Lukey!

Man! You really did go ALL OUT! But it all turned out so cute. And I don't know what you are talking about- your fondant cake looks awesome! And I am especially glad that Lucas dove into his cake like that - every parent wants those kind of pictures. Anna would have nothing of the sort. Boo!

I think that is so great that he loved his cake so much. I was hoping Hailee would on her 1st bday, but she wasn't THAT into it. Isn't it cool that me you and megan all have kids a year apart from each other within a week.
Hailee is two, Lucas is one and Evan is brand new...all in the same week. Kinda cool i think.

What a party! :) Can't believe your "baby" is 1! I have a new perspective on kiddos getting older. He seems so big now... but just wait! He's such a baby still. I hope you can hold on to those memories forever. Where did you find the fondant recipe? I can't believe you made that cake! It looks GREAT & so well done I thought you spent a fortune on it. Way to go, Brynn! Love ya & Miss you!

Brynn this party is SO AWESOME. Good work my friend. I am kinda bummed I missed it darnit. I think I might try a stab at a fondent cake this year. For Austin's or Ava's bday, I dont know, but they look like alot of fun. You'll have to show me what to do. I love the lil' photo booth you set up. Your grandpa is so cute. Happy bday Lucas!
ps. Dont worry about what Nate said about Lucas not 'remembering' his 1st bday. The first bday is all for the parents not the baby.

Brynn that party is 'da bomb!! i love the theme, how clever. especially that little photobooth. And hello your fondant cake is amazing! it's perfect!

I agree with Barb--the first bday is all about the parents celebrations anyway:) even though he won't remember this party, he'll have some wicked sweet pics to look back on and that makes it all worth the effort right there.... congrats on your first year of life, little man
