Last weekend we tried to escape the cold winter by heading down to St. George. Sadly it wasn't as warm as we wanted but we still had a great time.
Nate's grandma told us about this sweet park that she calls the science fiction park. It was the craziest playground I have ever seen. It had tons of fun things that spun you around really fast, great slides, cool teeter-totters, it was great. We spent a good 2 hours there, Lucas was loving it.

We also went up to the Dixie Rock to do some hiking. We decided to test Lucas out and see how he handled hiking with us. He is just getting to heavy to carry in the pack and we still want to do lots of hiking this summer! I was nervous but he was a complete champ! We hiked over a mile up and down hill and he walked/ran the entire time. When we picked him up to help him up big rocks he kept saying "Walk, Walk!". He loved it! We were so excited!

He thought some of the big rocks were slides and wanted to slide down them. Silly boy! Can't wait to take him on more hikes this summer.

The next day it was rainy so we decided to head down to Vegas and see if it was any warmer down there. Of course we stopped at my favorite store ever H&M and stocked up on some clothes for Lucas. The shopping center has the greatest kids playground. Lucas loved running around and I think he went down the slides at least 30 times.
He has mastered the art of climbing ladders, it scares the crap out of me! He's too little, he can't grow up this fast!

We also went to Caesars Palace and Luke was mesmerized by everything.
We headed home later in the afternoon and were making great time until we right before Mesquite. All of a sudden traffic completely stopped, and I mean completely.
And here is what was stopping traffic.

Yeah a trailer and truck completely tipped over blocking the entire road.
We got there right after it happened because there wasn't even cops there yet.
You ask how long we were on the freeway.....3 hours, 3 long hours with a hungry child in the back. And us being the great parents that we are had 2 crackers and a sip of water in the car which lasted all of 2 minutes. Man it was a long 3 hours.
We got out and walked around the side of the freeway for a while, watched some movies, and let the kid climb all over the place in the car. In the end it was kind of an adventure!

I felt so bad for the guy who was driving.
He was sitting there on the side of the road with bandages all over just shaking his head, not a good day for him!

The rest of the weekend we spent hanging with Nate's grandparents and some of his cousins, eating some good food, and visiting some other parks (hmmm is it a trend that all we did was go to the park, the things you do on vacation when you have kids.)

This picture makes me laugh, he kept going up to this pole and hugging it. We need to help him make real friends, not inanimate objects.

We are starting the kids off early in basketball, he loves it!
It was so nice to get away for a bit, we always have a good time down there.

We haven't been there in so long and I miss it. Even though you say it wasn't that warm, I can feel the warm breeze exuding from the pictures ;) I also have many memories of Vegas driving or even just driving back to St. George and the freeway being stopped completely for a few hours. It sucks cause there isn't just an exit or a different route you can take. Gotta love it ;)

We missed you Saturday. Tell that husband of yours he better of had a good time since you missed out!

What a great trip besided the whole waiting in the car for three hours! Lukey is so cute. I was proud of his hiking. Brandon was impressed too. That's right...get that kid going in basketball. He will be a star!

now that sounds like a weekend i could use right about now. what a fun little getaway! and road trips are the best. (eh, with or without 3 hour delays.) i can't imagine how in the world i'd keep max entertained for 3 hours stuck in traffic. kudos to you guys!:)
