Someone very special had a big birthday last week!
Yup, it was Nate's birthday and he turned the big 3-0!
He had the whole weekend off so we decided to take off all weekend.
First off we headed up Logan canyon for a little camping.
We camped by a little bridge and Lucas was OBSESSED with throwing sticks in and then running to the other side to see them float by. He thought it was the greatest thing ever.

It was perfect weather and we had a great time.
For the rest of the weekend we headed up to Lava Hot Springs to celebrate Nate's bday.
His grandma has this huge cabin up there so we had my parents and sister and her hubby, and his mom, grandma, aunt and uncle and cousin come help us celebrate.
We ate so much food and played games and let Lucas run free all over the place.
Nate's mom surprised Nate with a free palm reading in town. I wish I would have brought my camera cause it was hilarious! She was pretty accurate with some things, but not all. According to her we will have 4 kids and I will be the first one to die. Nate won't remarry but he will have a girlfriend when he is really old. That's always reassuring. The lady who read his palm was so funny, she was super old and just talked and talked. Halfway through the palm reading she reached down her shirt and pulled out a bottle of finger nail polish and said "oh yea I forgot I had that down there!". Nice.
Anyways back to Nate's birthday celebration.
So what does a 30 year old ask for for his birthday?
You may think normal things like clothes, movies etc.
Well, not Nate. What does Nate ask for?

Yup a gorilla costume.
My 30 year old husband got a gorilla costume for his birthday.
I haven't seen Nate that excited about a present in a long time.
Lucas was pretty freaked out by it and of course Nate had to taunt him.
That night he woke up crying about the scary monkey, great he now has a fear of monkeys!

Nate's mom made the sweet cake too. If you can't tell it is a hill with a path over it, get it - Over the Hill!

We had a great weekend, thanks everyone for helping us celebrate!

What a great cake! And I have to laugh about the costume. I love the picture with Lucas in the mask. Hopefully he will get over his fear of monkeys! LOL
That is hilarious!! Where do you pick up a mask like that in July? Nate really is an interesting character. Can't wait to see you guys soon. :)
I can't wait to see the gorilla in action! So many choices...
I love everything about his birthday! The palm reader, the costume. It all makes me laugh. So do your sons obsessions. Speaking of, I think my daughter might have one with you. lol. I will have to tell you about it on Thursday. Too much to type. Yep. I am lazy like that. See you then!
A gorilla costume? Palm reading? Randomness! I love it. And is it just me or does Lucas look like a little boy and NOT a two year old in those top pics! What a cute kid.
haha, oh how i love you guys. and i love that nate throws the mask at lucas..his birthday sounded great!! excited to see a post about your latest camping adventure
Oh dear sweet Nate! Of course he wants a monkey costume for his 30th birthday! Didn't you know that is the standard request when men hit the big 3-0?? Ricky begged and begged for a monkey costume, but I just didn't give in. What a lucky guy Nate is:) Happy birthday Nate!
Happy Late Birthday to Nate! The Gorilla costume is so random, I love it!! That cake looks too cool to actually eat!
