Construction Zone

Well now that we own our house Nate decided it was time for demolition (even though he really didn't have time). For those of you who haven't seen our lovely bathroom might not truly understand the rush to start demo. Here is a picture, it really doesn't do it justice.

So everyday Nate grabs his hammer and starts knocking down random pieces of tile, resulting in a lot of holes in my wall. I keep telling him to just wait and we will find a day and do it all at once, but it is just too much for him and he has to feel the satisfaction of tile falling every day! So right now my bathroom is half tile half holes!

Another project we have going is getting the babies room done which is my top priority! Last Saturday my sweet mom and dad came and really helped us get started. They ripped down baseboards and cleaned the walls and took lots of loads to the DI. A few nights ago instead of studying for his final Nate started painting! It really does look awesome though. Here is the before picture (in the process actually). I can't wait until it's done so I can decorate.

The next project that is all going on at the same time is getting new appliances. We moved all of our old appliances downstairs into the rental and we got ourselves some nice new ones! We have the oven in but had some difficulties with the dishwasher. So I have a microwave and a dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen. We are waiting for a part so no dishwasher for a few days which means no kitchen sink and lots of dirty dishes! No stress at all.

The final project that really is almost done is just getting all of our junk into the storage room. The storage room was disgusting and Nate did an amazing job at getting it cleaned up and we do have mostly everything organized and in there! We are also getting a washer and dryer courtesy of my amazing parents which is going to be amazing!!!! For those of you who don't know when they started remodeling the basement in December they took out the washer and dryer and I have been without for 4 months! How do I do my laundry? I hate to say it because I really am spoiled, but my sweet angel of a mother has come down once a week and grabbed our laundry for us. She washes and folds it all! I am so blessed to have her! She has really saved me. THANKS MOM!

And we do need to figure out what to do with this?!?!?!?!
Other than our construction zone life is great. Only two more months tell the little kid is here and we are so excited. Nate finished finals yesterday and only has to take one class this summer which he has already taken (he didn't fail it just didn't finish it in time). I finally have my husband back! I think I spent more time with him the last week than I have the last four months! We are so excited to have our own house though. It feels great (except for we have to go buy a lawn mower and all sorts of gardening tools). I can't wait until all the projects are done so I can sit in my house and actually relax!

Ah, it is going to be so nice when you're done! I'm so sorry that you've had to go that long without a washer and dryer!! Sheesh! If you ever need an urgent load...feel free to bring one over here! See you this weekend!

I agree, you do have a great Mom! Wish you well on all those projects. Post pictures of the nursery when it's finished, I can't wait to see.

Make sure Nate leaves you some of that tile to knock down when you are nine months preggo and want that baby out! It will be a great, strenuous activity to do. I shoveled snow when I was nearing my due date! Isn't it crazy to have to buy a lawnmower and weed whacker--who'da thought we would ever have to spend our money on such grownup things!

I am sure you are going crazy right now cause we are the same with finishing projects and I would nutso with stuff everywhere. Ross was the same way with the rocking chair for Anna each day he would sand some more and paint some more - no big deal to him - but I was bonkers seeing it in the middle of our kitchen everyday till it was done. You do have a great mom - I would mock you but I could see Jane doing the same thing. Lucky us. Good luck with all else your home owning endeavors bring. See you tomorrow!

P.S. Congrats on finishing your finals Nate and no that wasn't my comment above ;)

Brynn,
Well dear, I hate to break it to you, but I haven't lived in my own home for more than two years, but I guarentee the projects won't ever be "done" so try your hardest to sit in your house and relax...before the baby comes. It won't happen afterward!
